Olives - the perfect late fall food! (and new recipe video)
We are all experiencing seasonal eating adjustments right now. If we live in colder climates, the abundance of local produce has diminished greatly and we are challenged to be more creative with our raw food spreads. If we live in warmer climates, we are wanting a shift from the lighter fare of hotter months, looking for foods with more staying power.
We think there is a lovely and perfect food for these late fall months that carries into winter as well: the humble olive! Our family enjoys olives, especially at this time of year. Olives add a little zing and depth to green salads; they are a grounding mid-day snack; and we love the olive tapenades served with hearty vegetable "scoops" or wraps.

A favorite tip: with just a jar of pitted Raw Power Kalamata Olives and some fresh veggies, you are a few simple steps away from having an impressive tapa spread! Simply pour out the brine from the olives and remove the chili pepper, then pulse in food processor (you could also use a traditional blender, just do smaller batches and be sure to only pulse, rather than blend). Wash and cut the veggies into scoop-sized pieces, arrange and serve! Our favorite accompanying veggies are: purple cabbage, colorful bell peppers, green lettuce leaves (esp a crispy Romaine), kohlrabi slices and celery stalks. Other fun alternatives are: chard leaves, large spinach leaves, carrot wedges (cut hole carrot on a diagonal), zucchini wedges, etc.
